"The Things We Lost in the Fire" was a song that was originally meant for this kind of record. The theme of the song is quite obviously loss, but it's the loss that comes from misunderstanding, or the awareness that I'm at a cross roads in my life. One of my great fears is to lose a friendship or to be betrayed by people that I thought were trustworthy. It's a fear that's been all to realized within the past couple of years, and while I'm glad to be rid of some people because they were dragging me down, I feel I'm also losing touch with people I care about and it's a depressing feeling like no other. As soon as I got the guitar and drums down I knew I had the right song and I let the lyrics just flow out of me in layers. This is another one of my favorite songs, because it's one of the most meaningful personally.
