The Shadows on the Wall

from The Wanderer(s) by Smells Like Green...

/

about

This particular track is about alienation and isolation, and the imagery of shadows burnt into the walls after a nuclear bomb blast. The image on the album cover is meant to represent the remains of a man burnt into a wall, the idea that we possess weapons with such power has always fascinated me. It felt appropriate to write a song criticizing the idea that we could change the world with either music or metal weapons of mass destruction alone. It occurs to me that both music and metal are just concepts, that are put into motion by people, and that we could all end up as another nuclear shadow on a wall somewhere if we continue our present course of self-destruction.
