Blanks is a song about my loss of creative drive, and the feeling that trying to write anything or do anything creative was about as useful as trying to draw blood out of a blank sheet of paper. It seemed as if I had lost the ability to know myself, and as a result I felt dead inside, weighted down by depression and wondering what the point of going on would have been. Writing the song the way I did, gave me something to reflect on and served as a song that I could listen to, to remind myself that I would never end up in that frame of mind again.
